18th Annual Hambletonian Continuing Education Wet Labs for Equine Veterinarians
In-depth, hands-on wet lab sessions led by equine experts at the Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford, N.J. Certified by the NJAEP and NJVMA. Select from 36 credit hours. 22Basic Equine Arthroscopy
Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Presented by Drs. Wayne McIlwraith, David Frisbie, Chris Kawcak and Laurie Goodrich. The course teaches the principles of equine arthroscopy including instrumentation and basic techniques, diagnostic arthroscopy of the carpus and fetlock joints; arthroscopic surgery of the carpus for osteochondral chip fragment removal and arthroscopic surgery of the dorsal compartment of the fetlock joint for proximal P1 chips, villonodular synovitis and OCD. The morning program will consist of lectures and video demonstration. The afternoon will be a laboratory with participants performing arthroscopic surgery using video under supervision of the instructors. 8 CE credits available. Cost: $850 (residents can take the Basic and Advanced course combined at a reduced rate of $950). 23 - 24Advanced Equine Arthroscopy
Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Presented by Drs. Wayne McIlwraith, David Frisbie, Chris Kawcak and Laurie Goodrich together with guest lecturers Dr. Alan Nixon (Cornell University) and Dr. Ian Wright (Newmarket Equine Hospital). This course features a practical format including 4 laboratories to give optimal practical information on how to do advanced arthroscopy and with particular emphasis on approaches for internal fixation of fractures in teh carpus and fetlock, new arthroscopic techniques in the femoropatellar and femorotibial joints, advanced arthroscopic surgery of teh hock and important tenoscopic surgical techniques as well as bursoscopy.16 CE credits available. 25Advanced Diagnostics of the Equine Stifle
Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Presented by Drs. Myra Barrett, Natasha Wepy, Kurt Selberg, Wayne McIlwraith, Chris Kawcak and David Frisbie. This one-day course features both didactic and wet lab settings dedicated to the equine stifle. Participants will gain an in-depth knowledge of all the latest diagnostic techniques of the equine stifle and the ability to perform complete ultrasound, radiographic and diagnostic arthroscopy of the equine stifle. 8 CE credits available.
